Ateneum in the 20´s

Aalto University’s School of Art, Design and Architecture began its operations as Veistokoulu (“Craft School”) in the Ateneum building in 1871. The Aalto University Archives hold extensive image collections that document the beginnings of teaching, student life and artistic activities in the building. The school moved from Ateneum to Hämeentie, Arabia in 1986 and to Otaniemi 2018.

Ateneum on the 70´s and 80’s

Aalto University’s School of Art, Design and Architecture moved out of the Ateneum building in 1986. These photographs illustrate the teaching and student life during the Ateneums last decades as an arts school.
