Hack4FI 2016

Hack4FI – Hack your heritage puts open Finnish cultural resources to use!

Hack4FI – Hack your heritage hackathon brings together artists, programmers, designers, humanists, educators and others interested in digital cultural heritage and multi-professional collaboration.

The purpose of the hackathon is both to celebrate and raise awareness of the wonderful cultural heritage materials freely and openly available on the Internet, and experiment and showcase different and creative ways these materials can be reused.

The second Hack4FI will be organised 5-7 February 2016 in Aalto Media Factory. During the weekend participants will create new cultural works, services and concepts in an international and inspirational surrounding.

After the hackathon a six-week working period begins during which participants can further advance their projects. A ceremony will be held in April to celebrate all the amazing works created and award the most innovative, creative and useful ones.

Hack4FI – Hack your heritage was first inspired by the successful Danish Hack4DK. It is organised by the local Finnish OpenGLAM-working group AvoinGLAM in collaboration with Aalto University and Aalto Media Factory and funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
